A Fair Settlement, Not Just a Fast One
Fair and fast are not the same thing, and mediation has a way of rewarding whoever is more comfortable moving quickly. This course walks you through the four step framework that FDR practitioners actually use to reach a just and equitable outcome, so you understand how the property pool gets identified, how contributions and future needs get weighed, and where the economic effects of family violence factor into that calculation when relevant. You will finish knowing what a reasonable outcome looks like for your situation before anyone puts a figure on the table.
Straight Answers About Disclosure and Fairness
A huge amount of mediation anxiety comes from not knowing the rules. What has to be disclosed? What happens if the other party is not being upfront about an asset? Is anything you say in the room actually confidential, and where does that protection stop? This course answers those questions directly, in plain English, covering the duty of full and frank disclosure, the limited exceptions to confidentiality, and what inadmissibility actually means for anything said during the session. You stop guessing at the rules and start relying on them.
Steadier Footing When Things Get Emotional
Grief, anger, fear, and plain exhaustion are not signs you are handling this badly. They are the normal weather of financial separation, and pretending otherwise helps nobody. What this course does differently is treat your emotional preparation with the same seriousness as your financial preparation, with practical tools for recognising your own stress signals, staying steady in the room when things get tense, and recovering properly once the session ends. You are allowed to find this hard. You are also allowed to walk in with a plan for handling that.
About the Course
The prospect of dividing property and finances after a relationship can feel overwhelming. This course aims to remove uncertainty about property mediation, ensuring you are prepared, informed, and grounded for the process. Addressing concerns of fairness, transparency, and emotional support, this course guides you towards a fair settlement that allows you to move forward independently.
